dexter ve emma’nın ilk tanıştıkları yer 1988 yılındaki mezuniyet balosudur. o tarihten sonra, birbirlerini yalnızca yılda bir kez düzenlenen okul etkinliklerinde görmeye başlarlar ve bu 20 yıl boyunca devam eder.

David Nicholls'ın bu kadar da olmaz dedirten kitabıdır. Okurken 'ben olsam ben de bunu yapardım' demeden edemiyorsunuz. Bu kadar samimi ve bu kadar yalın bir dille yazılmış olması ise kitabın kahramanlarına duyduğunuz sempatiyi arttırıyor. Kitabın içine koskoca yirmi yılın sığdırılmış olması sanki onlarla büyümüşsünüz gibi hissettiriyor. Ağustos ayında film vizyona girecektir. E, gitmesem olmaz.
