Bu dansın karakteri 18. yüzyılda sanat müziğinde süitin bölümlerinden biri olmuş, başlangıçtaki özellikleriyle bağlılığı azalmıştır.

Almanya'da doğan, 1550 yıllarında Fransa'ya geçen dans türüdür...

avrupa da 1600 lü yıllarda moda olmuş. kadın-erkek çift oynanan kıvrak bir danstır.

Bir çeşit fransız dansı. genelde 4/4 lük zamanda yazılırlar. Barok dönemde görülür.
