maria zakharova (born december 24, 1975) is the director of the information and press department of the ministry of foreign affairs of the russian federation (the official representative of the ministry of foreign affairs of the russian federation) from august 10, 2015. she has a degree of candidate in historical sciences (phd equivalent).
